What the 6 lessons cover
- UX is not how it looks. UX is deciding what happens, in what order and what it says, so a real person gets what they came for without help. Pakistani users are mostly on mid-range phones and mobile data, and often more comfortable in Urdu.
- Research: finding out instead of assuming. Interview five real users about what they did, not what they would do; avoid leading questions and demos; observe where you can; and write down what you expected before you start.
- Structure: flows and information architecture. Map the user flow, remove a step, design the failure paths such as a dropped payment or a missing OTP, group and name content in users' words, and check it with card sorting.
- Wireframes and prototypes. Start on paper with real words, one primary action per screen and mobile first with thumb-sized targets, then link the screens into a clickable prototype.
- Usability testing: watching it fail. Give five people a task, stay silent and watch, sort problems by severity, fix and test again, in the users' language and on a phone.
- Working as a UX designer. The job is mostly conversation and a careful handoff. Pakistani UX roles concentrate in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, and three or four case studies showing what testing changed are the hiring conversation.
