Read what each lesson covers
- Vector, and why it matters. Shapes are maths, so one logo file prints on a card and a billboard. Use Illustrator for logos, icons and print, Photoshop for photographs, and set colour mode and artboard size at the start.
- The pen tool and shapes. Build from shapes with Pathfinder and Shape Builder, then practise the pen tool daily: corner and curve points, as few as possible, and Image Trace only as a starting point to clean up.
- Type and layout. One or two typefaces paired with contrast, careful kerning, outlines for print with an editable copy kept, properly licensed fonts, and a Nastaliq face made for Urdu.
- Logos and brand work. Design in black first and test at stamp size, keep it simple, avoid clichés, and deliver a full set of files with a short brand sheet.
- Preparing files for print. Three millimetres of bleed, a safe margin, CMYK, rich black, 300 ppi images, embedded fonts and links, the printer's own PDF settings and a physical proof.
Who this course is for
- Designers who make logos in Photoshop and need files that print at any size.
- Freelancers delivering logos, packaging and print work to clients.
- Graphic design learners ready for vector work.
