Sales Fundamentals · Lesson 1 of 5
Selling without becoming someone you dislike
Separate selling from the caricature of it.
Most people who say they cannot sell are imagining the pushy version: pressure, manipulation, talking somebody into something they do not need. That version exists, it works once, and it produces no repeat business and no referrals, which is most of where sustained income comes from.
The version that works is closer to diagnosis. Find out what the person actually needs, decide honestly whether you can help, and if you can, explain how. If you cannot, say so. Telling a prospect that your product is not right for them costs you one sale and buys you a person who trusts you and refers others.
Selling is a service when you genuinely believe in what you offer. Somebody with a problem you can solve is better off buying from you. Reluctance to say so is often mistaken for integrity and is usually just discomfort.
Listen more than you talk. The most common mistake by far is talking about the product before understanding the situation. A salesperson who talks for twenty minutes has learned nothing.
Qualify early. Not everybody is a customer. The faster you identify who cannot buy, does not need it, or cannot decide, the more time you have for people who can. Chasing unqualified prospects is the largest waste of time in sales and it feels like hard work.
Expect rejection and do not personalise it. Most people saying no are saying no to the timing, the budget or the fit.
Write down what your product is genuinely not right for. Then tell the next unsuitable enquiry honestly and note their reaction.
لکھیں کہ آپ کی پروڈکٹ کن کے لیے واقعی مناسب نہیں۔ پھر اگلے غیر موزوں استفسار کو ایمانداری سے بتائیں اور ان کا ردعمل نوٹ کریں۔
