Read what each lesson covers
- A mark, not a picture. A logo is an identifier that must work in one colour and at one centimetre. It need not explain the business; simple and distinct beat detailed and beautiful.
- Before you draw anything. Ask what the business does and for whom, who the competitors are, where it will be used and which brands they like and dislike. Sketch on paper and agree the process in writing.
- Building it properly. Work in vector, in black and white first, with hand-spaced, licensed type. Never ship stock icons or generated marks; test at icon size and build the variations.
- Presenting so it gets approved. Three considered directions shown in context with a short rationale, nothing you would not want chosen, feedback read as a problem, and a delivery with a one-page guide and ownership in writing.
- Charging for it. Price on value to the business, not hours. Compete on process rather than marketplace prices, take a deposit, include revision rounds, sell a brand-basics package and keep every file.
Who this course is for
- Designers asked for logos by local businesses.
- Freelancers competing against cheap marketplace logo listings.
- Business owners who want to brief and judge a logo properly.
