Google Ads · Lesson 1 of 5

Intent is the whole advantage

Understand why search advertising is different.

Meta interrupts people who were doing something else. Google reaches people who are looking for what you sell, right now. That difference decides everything about how you use it.

Someone searching "ac repair lahore" has a broken air conditioner. You do not have to create demand, interest them or persuade them they have a problem. You have to be there and be credible.

The consequence: search ads usually cost more per click and convert far better, so cost per click is a misleading number to compare across the two platforms. Compare cost per customer.

Where Google fits best. Services people search for when they need them: repairs, legal, medical, tuition, travel. Products with a clear name. Business to business, where the buyer researches. Anything urgent.

Where it fits poorly. Something nobody knows exists, because nobody searches for it. A very low value product where the click cost cannot be recovered. A market where the search volume is simply too small, which happens in Pakistan for narrow English language terms.

The account structure. Campaign holds the budget and the settings. Ad group holds a tightly related set of keywords with ads written for them. Keywords trigger the ads.

Keep ad groups tight. Five to twenty closely related keywords with ads that use those exact words. An ad group containing forty unrelated keywords cannot have an ad relevant to any of them, and relevance is what decides your price.

Lab — try it yourself

Search for your own service on Google and look at who is advertising. Write down what each promises and what you would say differently.
