Earning from an audience without a product

Affiliate marketing means recommending somebody else's product and earning a commission when somebody buys through your link.

Why it appeals, particularly here. No product to build, no inventory, no customer support, no payment processing, and income in dollars from international programmes.

Why most people earn nothing. It is presented as passive income and it is not. It requires an audience or traffic, and building either takes a year of consistent work. The people selling courses about it earn from the courses rather than from the model, which is worth noticing.

What actually works. Content that answers a buying question, ranking in search or on YouTube, and recommending products the reader was already going to buy. A review, a comparison, a guide to choosing. The person arrived intending to purchase and you helped them decide.

What does not work. Posting links on social media to an audience that did not come for recommendations. Sending links to friends. Any approach that does not involve somebody actively looking for what you are recommending.

Realistic expectations. Months before the first meaningful commission, and a small number of pieces of content producing most of the income.

And the honest constraint for Pakistan: several major programmes pay by methods that are awkward here, and commission rates on physical goods are low. Software and services pay considerably better and are the more sensible focus.
