YouTube Video Production · Lesson 1 of 5
Planning, which decides whether it works
Stop filming things nobody chose to watch.
Decide who the video is for and what they get from it before anything is filmed. A video made because you felt like making it has no audience by construction.
Start from what people search for or click. A video answering a question people actually ask is found for years; a video about whatever you wanted to say is watched by people who already know you, and there are not many of them yet.
The title and the thumbnail decide whether the video is watched at all, which is uncomfortable because they take ten minutes and the video takes a day. Decide both before filming, because a video you cannot title clearly is a video without a clear subject.
Plan the first fifteen seconds most carefully. Most viewers leave there, and they leave because the video opened with an introduction, a logo animation and a request to subscribe instead of the thing they came for.
Script it, or at least outline it. Speaking without structure produces a twenty minute video containing four minutes of content, and viewers feel that even when they cannot say why.
Decide the length from the content, not from a rule you read. A clear seven minute answer beats a padded eighteen minute one.
And plan the shots you need before the camera is set up, because going back to film one missing piece is how a day becomes two.
Write the title and design the thumbnail before filming. A video you cannot title clearly has no clear subject.
فلم بندی سے پہلے عنوان لکھیں اور تھمب نیل بنائیں۔ جس ویڈیو کا عنوان واضح نہ ہو، اس کا موضوع بھی واضح نہیں۔
