The infrastructure offices actually have

A great deal of technical education focuses on Linux and the cloud, and a great many Pakistani offices run on Windows Server: banks, government departments, manufacturing, distribution, education and most established businesses.

What that means for a career. Steady, well paid work maintaining infrastructure that is not going anywhere, with far less competition than for web development roles. It is unglamorous and it is reliably employable, and somebody who can administer Windows Server and understands networking is in demand in every city here rather than only in the technology hubs.

What these environments contain. Active Directory holding every user and computer. File servers. Print servers. Exchange or Microsoft 365 for mail. Line of business applications, frequently old. Terminal services for remote users. And a mixture of hardware of various ages.

The work. User and permission administration, backups, patching, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting people whose work stops when something breaks.

Where it is going. Hybrid, with Entra ID and Microsoft 365 alongside on premises servers rather than replacing them. That combination is where the demand actually is, and somebody who knows only one half is less useful than somebody who spans both.

Start by understanding Active Directory, because everything else in a Windows environment depends on it and it is the concept that takes longest to hold properly.
