Read what each lesson covers
- Where the paid Shopify work is. Merchants, mostly in America, Britain, Australia and Europe, pay for brand-specific themes, custom sections, performance and fixes. You need HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Liquid, not a backend language.
- Liquid and theme structure. Liquid outputs, loops, branches and filters; a theme has layouts, templates, sections, snippets, assets, config and locales. Sections with good schema settings let merchants edit without you.
- Building and customising. Work locally with version control on a duplicate theme, never the live one; make anything changeable a setting, and test with hundreds of products, long titles, missing images and sold-out items.
- Performance and conversion. Apps, oversized images, sliders and fonts slow stores, and an app audit is often the biggest free win. Then conversion work, measured so the merchant sees the numbers move.
- Working with merchants. Specialise, build a portfolio with permission, quote a defined scope, communicate reliably, hand over documentation and the backup theme, and offer maintenance.
Who this course is for
- Front-end developers with HTML, CSS and JavaScript who want international client work.
