Read what each lesson covers
- Watching without crying wolf. Noise is the central difficulty: alert on everything and within two weeks alerts are closed unread. The realistic goal is to know about foreign sign-ins and new admin accounts, keep logs and have a plan.
- Logs and what to keep. Collect authentication, admin, sensitive-access, boundary and endpoint events; centralise them, keep at least ninety days, synchronise clocks, protect them from editing and test that you can search them.
- Detecting what matters. Start from what would hurt you and alert on a few high-confidence signals, such as impossible travel or a new admin account, each with a written response, tuned continuously.
- Responding to an incident. A written plan, then contain without switching machines off, preserve evidence, find how they got in before rebuilding, communicate honestly and write it up afterwards.
- Building this capability realistically. Prevention first: multi-factor authentication, patching, tested offline backups and least privilege. Then turn on the logging your cloud and directory already provide, write a one-page plan, or use a managed service.
Who this course is for
- IT staff and system administrators made responsible for security monitoring.
- Small organisations that want detection without building a full security operations centre.
- Learners aiming at SOC analyst roles.
Try the first exercise (in Urdu)
گنیں کہ پچھلے مہینے کتنے سیکیورٹی الرٹ آئے اور کتنے کی تحقیق ہوئی۔ یہی فرق آپ کی نگرانی کی اصل حالت ہے۔
Using this in Pakistan
- Indeed's range for security analysts in Pakistan is Rs 31,834 to 112,351 a month, based on only three reported salaries, so treat it as a rough guide. Source
- Entry security roles advertised in September 2026 were in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi rather than Faisalabad; even a Lahore SOC L1 internship required a Wazuh certification. Source
