ChatGPT for Beginners · Lesson 1 of 6
Open the tool and get something genuinely useful from it in ten minutes.
If you have never used ChatGPT, this lesson is the whole barrier. It is smaller than it looks.
Open it in a browser or install the app. A free account is enough for everything in this course; you do not need to pay to learn this.
You will see a box. Type into it as though messaging a knowledgeable colleague. Try exactly this:
Explain what a CV is and what should go in one, for someone applying
for their first job in Pakistan. Keep it short.
Read the answer. Then, in the same conversation, type:
Now write one for me. I finished intermediate, I know MS Word and
basic Excel, and I helped at my family shop for two years.
Notice what just happened: it remembered the first message. A conversation builds — you do not have to explain everything again each time. This is the first thing beginners miss, and it is why their second question often gets a worse answer than it should.
A few practical points:
You can talk to it normally. No special commands. Roman Urdu works. Mixed English and Urdu works.
You can correct it. Too formal, make it simpler or you missed the shop experience — it adjusts. Most people accept the first answer and leave, which is like ending a conversation after one sentence.
Nothing breaks. You cannot damage anything by asking a bad question. The only real cost of a poor attempt is a few seconds.
Start a new chat for a new subject. A conversation carrying twenty unrelated topics gets confused, and so will you.
That is genuinely the whole interface. Everything after this is about getting better answers from it.
Have one real conversation of at least five messages about something you actually need — a message to write, something to understand, a plan to make. Correct it at least twice rather than accepting the first answer.
